CHARLOTTE

"Charlotte"

Oil on canvas 60 x 80 cm

Charlotte's idea stems from the need to represent that particular state of mind that, sooner or later, has led each of us to fix the void, to wander the gaze through the glass of a window without looking at anything, as in a search of an answer.

She is a thoughtful and enigmatic figure that reflects the common difficulty of opening up and tell each other.

She is depicted as a prostitute in an indefinite time in an imaginary world, but the painting mainly wants to represent the strength of a woman worn out by her life history and eager to simply find someone who can listen to her and understand her.

The window facing the street is like a stage from which to expose yourself. All the chromatic and scenographic context should convey the sense of slowness almost wanting to stop time in order to reflect. The absence of speed is represented by the cigarette smoke that slowly rises to the sky. The painting portrays Charlotte late at night, so that the steps of the people are not heard, and the noises, that come from the street during the day.

The blue color should convey both the vitality of this woman and the gloom of her thoughts.

The figure detaches itself from the dark scene of her room in a theatrical way, as if to highlight her true essence. The decadent scenographic context is the attempt to accurately represent her state of mind. The intensity of the gaze, marked with black, reveals the awareness of those who have waited a long time for something that has never arrived and that perhaps is not there ...
